Eid el-Maulud: Benue, Bauchi govs, Muslim leaders urge religious tolerance

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has called on the Muslim faithful in the country, in the spirit of Eid el-Maulud (commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad), to follow the exemplary leadership of the prophet by promoting peaceful co-existence among the various segments of society.

The governor, in his goodwill message, urged them to shun ethnic, political and religious differences, but work towards building a safer and better state and country.

Similarly, while chatting with journalists in his Makurdi office, leader of the Hausa community in Benue, Garba Baba, also called on Muslims to imbibe the virtues of peace and pray for leaders.

Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Yahaya, charged Nigerians to exhibit the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad with exemplary leadership, humility and tolerance to bring development to the country.

In a statement signed by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Ismaila Misilli, yesterday, the governor said: “As we commemorate this great day, let us continue to emulate the noble messenger of Allah in our actions, interactions and relationships for the betterment of our society.”

From Katsina State, Governor Dikko Radda called on Nigerians of all creeds to imbibe the virtues of true brotherhood and compassion for humanity, in their interpersonal relationships.

Radda, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Mohammed, said doing so would greatly assist in engendering national peace, unity and integration in a pluralistic society like ours.

According to the statement, the governor gave the advice while felicitating with Muslims in the state, country and all over the world, on the occasion of this year’s Eid el-Maulud celebration.
GOVERNOR Umar Namadi of Jigawa State called for renewal of the commitment to the principles of unity and cooperation the state is known for. He invited the people to work together to uplift one another, support those in need and collectively build a brighter future for their communities.

In his Maulud message through his Director of Press and Public Relations, Usman Gumel, the governor called for peace, happiness and blessings for all as a reminder of the duty to follow the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad and strive to be the best versions of selves.
