Eid: House Minority Caucus greets Muslims, calls for unity

National Assembly

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, calling for national reflection on the values of faith, obedience, and selflessness embodied by the festival.

The message, jointly signed by caucus leaders—Rep. O.K. Chinda (Minority Leader), Rt. Hon. Dr Ali Isa J.C (Minority Whip), Rt. Hon. Aliyu Madaki (Deputy Minority Leader), and Rt. Hon. George Ozodinobi (Deputy Minority Whip)—was released on Sunday as Muslim faithful across the country joined millions worldwide to mark the festival.

The caucus described Eid al-Adha as a “remarkable celebration of our common humanity,” rooted in the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience to God.

“This act of worship and sacrifice exhibited by the Prophet has become a reference point for all of mankind in how we are to obey and serve God Almighty at all times and in all conditions,” the statement read.

They called on Nigerians of all faiths to embrace the enduring lessons of the season—faith, obedience, generosity, sacrifice, empathy, and love—which they said were urgently needed to address the country’s pressing economic, political, and security challenges.

“As our Muslim brethren mark this momentous occasion, we urge all Nigerians to imbibe and sustain the significance of this period in our national life,” the message stated.

The caucus concluded by expressing solidarity with Muslim communities during the celebration, offering prayers for national healing and urging leaders at all levels to demonstrate greater selflessness and commitment to the public good.
