KIDNAPPERS are on the prowl again in Calabar as an eight-year- old boy was on Monday kidnapped by gunmen.

The boy is the son of the proprietor of a private nursery school in Anantigha, Calabar South, Faithas Nursery/Primary School, opposite the abattoir.

An eye witness said a strange person, suspected to be an Ijaw, who roamed around the area for a while had accosted the child, Master Eyo Antigha, just outside the school premises, which is located close to the creeks of Calabar South.

The witness said as soon as the child was grabbed, an armed gang showed up in a speed boat and took them away at gun point.

He said: “We have observed the increase of Ijaw boys as tenants and squatters in this Anantigha area recently and I strongly suspect their motives”.

He further reported that the entire Anantigha area was thrown into confusion following the kidnap incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Hogan Bassey, confirmed the incident, saying action was on to rescue the boy.
