The Ekiti State Government has approved a sum of N5.64 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of the Alanaka road, Efon Alaaye, and the rehabilitation of the Ilawe-Igbaraodo-Ibuji road in the state.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun, said that it was part of the decisions taken on Thursday at the virtual Executive meeting, chaired by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
He said that the approval for N4.47 billion Alanaka road, Efon Alaaye project, is to be awarded to Messrs. Wals and Funs Nigeria Limited with a 15-month completion period.
“The approval is part of the Oyebanji administration’s commitment to infrastructural development to ease the hardship of the people and improve socio-economic activities in the State.
“The contractor is to be paid 60 per cent of the contract sum as a mobilisation fee for the job upon the submission of an Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) or Insurance Bond and given 15 15-month completion period,” he said.
According to the commissioner, approval of N1.17 billion was given for the rehabilitation of the Ilawe-Igbaraodo-Ibuji road.
“The contract is to be awarded to Messrs. Dromo International Company Limited with a 12-month completion period.
“Due to the urgent nature of the job, a reputable indigenous Contractor, Messrs. Dromo International Limited who undertook maintenance palliative measures on the road between 2023 and 2024 at no cost to the government and possesses the technical and financial capabilities to execute the job was invited via Direct Procurement to submit a bid for the project,” he said.
Additionally, Olatunbosun stated that ₦826 million was allocated for the rehabilitation and perimeter fencing of four schools.
The sum of N312 million was earmarked for the perimeter fencing of Government College Oye Ekiti, to be executed by the Bureau of Special Projects through Direct Labour and completed within six weeks.
Olatunbosun stated that the lack of a perimeter fence at Government College, Oye Ekiti, poses a threat to the Government’s Safe School initiative, as it is accessible to all types of individuals.
The government also approved N97.6 million for the construction of perimeter fencing and a gatehouse at the United Comprehensive High School, Ise-Ekiti.
He said that the job is to be executed by the Bureau of Special Projects through Direct Labour and completed within six weeks.
Additionally, a sum of N195 million has been earmarked for the construction of a perimeter fence at the Government College, Ado-Ekiti. The job is to be executed by the Bureau of Special Projects through Direct Labour and is expected to be completed within six weeks.
The sum of N222 million was approved for the renovation of Deji Fasuan Model, College Afao road, Ado Ekiti, to be executed by the Bureau of Special Projects through Direct Labour and completed within six weeks.
