Ekiti State Government has commenced free healthcare services for residents at the 177 public health centres in the state. It said the free health services at the facilities included maternal healthcare, such as antenatal care, delivery, post-natal services, family planning and child care, nutrition, as well as malaria treatment for all categories of people.
The state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, who disclosed this, yesterday, when he led the state government’s health team to Olojudo’s Palace in Ido-Ekiti, Ido-Osi Local Council of the state, said the state government had stepped up sensitisation activities on its twin programmes, namely Ulerawa (our health) and basic healthcare provision fund.
Filani said Governor Biodun Oyebanji had committed huge amounts of money to cater for the health needs of Ekiti people. He noted that the sensitisation visit also featured medical outreach where residents of Ido-Osi council and its environs were registered and attended to on their various health needs.
“I also met with some of the traditional rulers of the council, particularly the Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti that coincidentally has just been appointed as Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Obas, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro,” the commissioner said.
The commissioner added that collection of cards, consultation and laboratory tests are also free of charge at those facilities. He urged members of the public to take advantage of the programme.
In his remarks, Oba Faboro expressed deep appreciation to the governor for the health intervention and other developmental projects across the state. The monarch, therefore, urged his subjects to maximise the opportunity provided by the programmes to cater for their health needs.
