Ekiti elders to induct eight young citizens as affiliate members

The Ekiti Council of Elders will on Thursday, April 30, 2026, induct eight young citizens as affiliate members as part of efforts to add more spice, vigour and strength to the activities of the Council.

According to a statement signed by its President, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, the Council, which minimum membership age is 60 years and exclusive for Ekiti indigenes, has been playing the role of father, advising, admonishing and correcting as deemed fit at critical times in the affairs of Ekiti people.

The Council, which is ever-committed to the development of Ekiti State as reflected in its programmes, projects and activities, comprises elders who are a bank of brains and assets in all fields of endeavour, as well as interested in and willing to give back to their communities and state both their experiences and substances as long as God grants them the favour.

The young citizens, billed for induction as affiliate members, are the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, and a multi-disciplinary development expert, Dr (Mrs) Margaret Fagboyo.

Others are a management guru and Chief Executive Officer of Agbeyewa Farms, Seyi Aiyeleso, and an international consultant, Dr Temitope Abimbola Longe.

Others are consummate construction engineer, Oladipupo Bamisaye; award winning entrepreneur, Lawrence Olagoke Egunjobi; seasoned lawyer, Oluwadola Rachel Abe; and ace broadcaster, Oluwakayode Jegede.

The induction is billed for Ekiti Council of Elders’ Resort, near Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, new Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.

The Council stated that the idea of the affiliates to inject young citizens was borne out of the elders’ decision to modernise and widen the horizon of its activities for greater efficiencies and effectiveness.

Among other obligations, the affiliates are to come up with suggestions that will assist the elders to improve on their service deliverables by injecting contemporary best practices into the Council initiatives and as well establish a strong link between the Council and Ekiti in the Diaspora for the overall benefit of the state and its people.

They are also expected to recommend possible interventions in the affairs of government for improved performance and as well carry out activities that will promote the vision and mission of the Elders’ Council.
