True to his campaign promises to draw foreign investment to Kaduna State, Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai yesterday, laid the foundation of 30billion naira biggest West Africa poultry/hatchery and Animal

Feed Mill established by Olam International group in Chikun local government area of Kaduna. The Country Head, Olam International Nigeria, Mr. Mukul Mathur, said the N30b poultry project, which will provide several employments to Nigerians, would also produce one million day old chicks weekly when completed in the next fifteen months.

According to Mathur, the feed mill capacity of 300,000 tonnes per annum will offer competitive price and specially formulated feeds for local poultry, and opportunity for the export of the produce. In his address entitled “Business is happening in Kaduna”, Governor El-Rufai who performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the Olam Integrated Feed Mill and Poultry project in Chikpiri Gabas village, said the project was not about the size of the facility but jobs that would be created in building and running the poultry project.

El-Rufai also expressed optimism in the return of vibrant economic activity in the State, saying that the reduction of poverty would drive prosperity and reduce the divisions that became pronounced as the state’s economy entered dire straits from the late 1980s.
