El-Rufai orders security beef-up in Kaduna, Plateau states border

Nasir El-Rufai
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has ordered security operatives to work with their counterparts in Plateau State to beef up security in the two states.

This followed his reaction to the cross-border violence between communities in Bassa Local Council of Plateau State and Kauru Local Council in Kaduna.

This, he said, will help to contain the crises along the borderline between the two states.

In a statement by Media Assistant to the governor, Samuel Aruwan, he lamented that certain elements in the border communities succumbed to the tragic cycle of attack and reprisals.

Aruwan conveyed the state government’s condolences to the families that lost loved ones and property, saying the state emergency authorities have been mobilised to provide relief.

Aruwan explained that El-Rufai has received reports of communal clashes in the border areas with Plateau State.

He said lives and property were lost in the clashes, especially in Kigam village of Kauru council and a community in Bassa council area of neighbouring Plateau State.
