El-Zakzaky blames Riyadh govt for Mina tragedy

sheikh_zakzakyLEADER of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky has blamed the Saudi Arabia authorities for the tragedy which occurred in Mina last week, saying that henceforth the kingdom should allow other Muslim countries worldwide participate in the management of the religious sites in the holy land.

Noting that the management of Hajj operation should be the responsibility of the Muslim world, El-Zakzaky explained that the event leading to the stampede, which caused the death of pilgrims was an indication that the Saudi Arabia government should not be left alone to manage the holy sites.

According to the Islamic cleric, “the management of hajj pilgrimage and the two holy mosques and other sanctities in Saudi Arabia is the responsibility of Muslims worldwide, and not the exclusive reserve of the Al-Saud royal family.”

Sheikh Zakzaky was responding to questions on the tragedy in Saudi Arabia, from members of the Media Forum of the Islamic Movement who paid him Eidel-Adha homage at his residence in Gyellesu, Zaria at the weekend.

El-Zakzaky, who made similar comment during a condolence visit to the family of late Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, a victim of the tragedy, argued: “The city of Makkah is home to every Muslim believer and whatever therein belongs to all Muslims.

“Muslims of all nations should be involved in the management of the hajj operations for effective coordination, welfare and safety of pilgrims. For the government of Saudi Arabia to blame pilgrims for killing themselves is ridiculous and a form of human degradation, which is also criminal.
They are saying this in order to cover up the real cause of the tragedy.”

El-Zakzaky further stressed that, if the Saudi government could describe the crane tragedy at the precincts of the holy Ka’abah as accidental, “then we wonder why the crane would be left hanging over the heads of millions of pilgrims, only to crash on them on September 11.”
