Elders in the Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State, under the aegis of the Oke-Ogun Council of Elders, have urged the federal and Oyo State governments to beef up security in their area and enforce the anti-open grazing law.

They stated this in a communiqué after their mid-year meeting in Ibadan held under the chairmanship of the council’s President, Otunba Bamidele Dada, a former Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resources.

The communiqué, signed by the council’s spokesman, Jare Ajayi and made available to The Guardian yesterday, stated that in spite of herders/farmers’ clashes still occurring, the influx of foreign Fulani to Nigeria had increased the insecurity problem in the area.

They, therefore, urged the government and security agencies to be firmer in dealing with the situation.
