Electricity workers impeach leader over alleged breach
•Kano to inaugurate power plant before December
The National Executive Council of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) has passed a vote of no confidence on its President General, Comrade Chris Okonkwo, for alleged constitutional breach.
In a resolution signed by 16 NEC members in Kano yesterday, the body insisted that Okonkwo stands impeached to save the association from “total collapse.”
The 16 members, sanctioned Okonkwo’s impeachment include branch president IEDC, Ilesanmi Joseph; branch president KEDCO, Shehu Sabo; branch president Kainji/Jebba, Peter Bauna; branch president, Egbin, Opeolu Ibrahim and National Welfare Officer.
The NEC argued that Okonkwo was not eligible to hold any elective office in the first place, going by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) conditions of service as captured in Rule 14.1.
BESIDES, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, at the weekend, assured Kano citizens the Tiga hydro power plant would be ready for commissioning before the end of year.
He said sufficient resources had been mobilised to boost economic fortunes and self-sufficiency of individuals besides establishment of power plants and safe water supply across the state.
