The lady at the centre of the recent Ibom Air flight controversy, Comfort Emmanson, has alleged that she was physically assaulted by a flight attendant when the aircraft landed in Lagos.
In a statement posted on her verified Instagram account, Emmanson claimed that the hostess, identified as Julian Edwards, forcefully pulled off her wig, tore her clothes, cut her gold jewellery, and damaged her mobile phones.
She alleged that Edwards insulted her, calling her a prostitute, and initially blocked her from disembarking from the plane.
Narrating the incident, Emmanson said: “On August 10, I boarded a flight from Uyo to Lagos. During landing, the hostess asked me to switch off my phone.
“One had a faulty button, and while I tried to explain, she dismissed me rudely. A fellow passenger helped me turn off the second phone, but she kept speaking condescendingly.”
According to her, the situation escalated after landing when she attempted to leave the aircraft.
“I carried my things to go, but she blocked my way. That was when I brought out my phone to record her. She then pushed me, yanked off my frontal wig, broke my chain, and my phones fell and got damaged. She also called me a prostitute.”
Emmanson said the altercation left her in severe pain and humiliated.
“Anyone who has fixed a frontal wig knows how painful it is. She dragged it forcefully and, in the process, tore my clothes. When I asked why she did that to me, I poked her face out of pain and anger.”
She alleged that other airline staff later surrounded her, rough-handled her, and recorded a video that was leaked online.
“They dragged me, and I struggled to cover myself. What they recorded and put out was me defending myself, not what actually happened.”
Emmanson added that the incident has left her traumatised and damaged her reputation as a real estate professional.
“Right now, I don’t know how I will face clients. Imagine going for a property deal and people are staring at me because of what was posted online.”
