The father of the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and national leader of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Pa Simeon Soludo, was laid to rest in his Umueze Village, Isuofia Community, in Aguata Local Council of the state, on Saturday, after a church service.

The burial Mass was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, in Umueze Isuofia. In his sermon, Cardinal Okpalaeke comforted the family, emphasising the remarkable life of Pa Soludo, which, he said, was impactful and exemplary.

In his welcome address, Governor Soludo appreciated members of the clergy present at the burial Mass, acknowledging their invaluable support, guidance and spiritual presence during this difficult time. The governor also extended his heartfelt gratitude to everyone in attendance at the funeral service, thanking all those who came to pay their respects and offer prayers, as well as supporting the Soludo family in different ways during their time of grief.

He thanked God for the kind of life his father lived, stressing that his memory would forever remain in their hearts.

In its tribute, the Boys Scout of Nigeria in Anambra State, through Patrick Nweke, eulogised the virtues of Pa Soludo, appreciating the legacy he left behind as the oldest scout in the South East. Nweke, who also served as a retired Assistant Chief Scout Commissioner in the Zone, further described Pa Soludo as a father-figure, man of truth, love and fair-mindedness, urging Governor Soludo and the entire family members to take heart for the irreplaceable loss.

Also, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeding Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has described Pa Soludo as a detribalised Nigeria. The Deputy National Director-General of MACBAN, Gidado Siddiki, noted that the last meeting the association had with the late Pa Soludo spoke volumes about his virtues as somebody who is deep in wisdom, and who loathed discrimination and intimidation.
