‘Engage Public To Promote Democracy and Good Governance’

THE Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General, Dehab Ghebreab has said that each year, the Humphrey Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria usually come together to organise a seminar to create awareness of major issues of social concern in order to find solutions to the problems.

Speaking during the 2015 Annual Lecture and Awards Luncheon of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria in Lagos, she said that the spirit of Hubert Horatio Humphrey lives on through the work of the alumni who engage the general public to promote democracy and good governance, national development, and a commitment to public service.

“I would also like to thank the Nigerian Humphrey Fellows for working closely with our office to organise this annual event and for their continued efforts to make a difference in their communities.

“This year is historic for the US Department of State as well as US Embassies and Missions abroad. We have been organising events to mark the 75th anniversary of the State Department’s international exchange program, including the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program. Approximately 114,000 from the US and 186,000 citizens of other countries have participated.”
