
•Otu returns children’s carnival, flags off exercise in Calabar
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared January 2, 2024, work-free day to enable residents to attend a New Year interdenominational thanksgiving service.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the service is scheduled to be held at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo.
Eno made this known while speaking at his hometown, Ikot Ekpene Udo, in Nsit Ubium Local Council, on Tuesday, during the maiden edition of Nsit Ubium Day.
He called on all Akwa Ibom residents to turn out en masse, as a people united under one God, for the service.
He said: “Don’t forget that on January 2, we will be having Akwa Ibom New Year Service at the International Christian Worship Centre.”
Meanwhile, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has returned the Children’s Carnival Calabar to the drawing board, as his wife flagged off exercise.
The Children’s Carnival, which was part of the yearly Calabar Festival, was removed from the carnival calendar during the last administration of Ben Ayade.
Flagging off the four kilometre rout dance filled with thrills and fun for children, yesterday, at the take off point, Millennium Park in Calabar, the Wife of the governor, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu, said: “Children are gift of any nation; so, they deserved to be celebrated.
