A socio-cultural organisation in Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, Odinma Nsukka, has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for entrenching peace and stability in the state and for his infrastructure strides, especially in rural areas.

Members of the association led by its Chairman, Vita Abba, passed the vote of confidence in the governor during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Odinma Nsukka Secretariat in Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Council of the state.

It expressed gratitude to Ugwuanyi for enthroning peace in the state, adding that his administration’s infrastructure strides, especially in the rural areas despite scarce resources at the state’s disposal, was commendable.

At the meeting, which was essentially a gathering of leaders and stakeholders of the Enugu North Senatorial District, they reaffirmed their commitment, solidarity and support of the Nsukka people for the governor and his people-oriented programmes and policies.

Abba thanked the members for their individual and collective contributions to the course of the group aimed at promoting the governor’s people-oriented programmes, as well as peace, unity and progress in the senatorial district and entire state.

He appreciated all those who attended the event and the few, who couldn’t make it, but obtained permission, adding: “I thank all of you who are here and the Nsukka people for their support for Governor Ugwuanyi. Your support is not taken for granted.”

He also disclosed that the resolution of Nsukka people in November 2020 at the Nsukka High School field, that they were solidly behind Ugwuanyi and his decisions in 2023 general elections, remained sacrosanct.

On his part, Coordinator of the group, Ifeanyi Ossai; Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu chapter, Hon. Solomon Onah; members of National Assembly represented by Hon. Pat Asadu and Hon. Simon Atigwe, as well as members of the state House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Chinedu Nwamba supported Abba’s submission.

They deplored attempts by persons outside the zone to frustrate Nsukka people’s resolve to remain loyal to Ugwuanyi, saying: “We urge the people of the zone to be patient and united behind the governor.”

Asadu specifically reminded the gathering that historically, the Nsukka people had often, in collaboration with other zones, sought guidance from incumbent governors on the direction of success and as such, Ugwuanyi’s case should not be different.
