As part of efforts aimed at addr!essing environmental challenges electronic waste (e-waste) poses to the nation’s rapidly growing urban centers, the management of E-waste Relief Foundation (ERF) is organising the Lagos E-waste Handlers Enhancement Programme.
The 4th edition of the Lagos E-waste Handlers and Capacity Enhancement programme is scheduled for April 17, 2025 in Yaba, Lagos.
Addressing journalists in Lagos recently, ERF President, Ifeanyi Ochonogor, said the essence of organising the programme is to train informal handlers of e-waste on the safe way to handle the waste for a cleaner environment.
Saying improper disposal of electronic devices harms the environment and poses serious health risks to communities, he added that loss of valuable resources is another consequence of not managing e-waste effectively.
Ochonogor said: “By providing training and capacity-building for e-waste handlers, we can promote environmentally responsible e-waste management practices. This programme will enhance the skills of individuals and organisations involved in e-waste handling, ensuring they can manage e-waste safely and efficiently.”
He listed key objectives of the events as, capacity building, environmental protection and job creation.
Established in 2018, ERF is the nation’s flagship non-governmental Organisation focused on tackling the e-waste crisis within Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
