EU, UNICEF urge use of renovated PHCs in Bauchi
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has advocated proper use of the 40 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) it renovated in collaboration with European Union (EU) in Bauchi State.
While speaking while delivery one of the PHCs in Lere, Tafawa Balewa Council Area at the weekend, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Bauchi, Bhanu Pathak said the agency was committed to improving the health conditions of the people, adding that the renovation cost $100,000, an equivalent of N40m.
He said several pregnant women were still skeptical on delivery at health facilities, insisting that the act posed avoidable dangers to the lives of unborn children and their mothers.
Pathak, therefore, advised the locals to use the newly upgraded facilities in Gadau, Isawa and Lere communities in Itas/Gadau, Giade and Tafawa Balewa council areas, while ensuring their proper maintenance.
