The Guardian gathered from close family sources that the deceased had been battling with health challenges since 2012.

The late Oni, who was appointed Minister of Education during the regime of Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar (rtd), relocated from from Akure to his hometown, Ise-Akoko, in Akoko North East local council of the state due to the health challenge.

A source revealed that the former minister’s health degenerated three days ago and he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Owo, where he eventually died.
