Ex-NBA chairman sues FG over $30b loan
A human rights lawyer, Kanmi Ajibola yesterday sued President Muhammadu Buhari for seeking a fresh $29.96b foreign loan and prayed the court to stop the National Assembly from approving it.
In the suit filed before the Federal High Court, Osogbo, Osun State against the respondents including the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), argued that they were not acting in the best interest of Nigerians.
He said instead of developing available resources in the country, they were seeking what he described as “destructive loans.”
Ajibola, a former chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilesa branch instituted the legal action in a 58 paragraph affidavit in support of his ex parte motion.
He disclosed that he had on December 16, 2019, wrote the defendants requesting some vital information, but they failed to respond within the constitutionally stipulated time.
