GOMBE State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers has been called upon to cooperate with security agencies to safeguard lives and property of passengers at motor parks across the state.

The out-going Chairman of the union, Alhaji Mohammed Gidado Mabani, who made call while speaking at the inauguration of the new state executive of the union in Gombe yesterday, said that the newly-elected executive members should ensure they cooperate with the security agencies for peaceful operations at motor parks across the state.

“I call on the in-coming chairman and his executive members to make sure they co-operate with the security men. They should make sure they work hand-in-hand with the security men to ensure the smooth running of the local branches”, he said.

Also speaking, the new chairman of the union, Alhaji Ibrahim Bala, said with his wealth of experience as the chairman of one of the branches in the state, he would enhance the co-operation between the union and security agencies to protect lives and property of people at motor parks.

He said he would also ensure that transport fares are reduced if the prices of petroleum products are reduced in the future.

Speaking with the journalists shortly after the occasion, Zonal Chairman of the union, Alhaji Muhammadu Kiyarwa, said the union had been contributing immensely to the growth and development of the country even at the grassroots level.
