A cryptocurrency exchange platform Jeroid celebrated eight years of operations in grand style on Monday in Lagos.
The event saw the unveiling of Afrobeats star Zlatan Ibile as Jeroid’s latest brand ambassador, a move expected to deepen the platform’s connection with Nigeria’s youth demographic.
Special Assistant to the President on Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr. Ayo Adeagbo, was among dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Jeroid CEO Jeremiah Mayowa used the anniversary to reflect on the company’s remarkable journey from its modest beginnings in a small apartment in 2017 to becoming Nigeria’s first ISO-certified cryptocurrency platform in 2024, with recertification achieved this year.
“Jeroid is more than just a company,” Mayowa told the gathering. “It is a family, a support system, and a movement that believes Nigeria and Africa can lead, innovate, and set the standard in the digital assets space.”
The evening’s entertainment lineup featured electrifying dance performances, a magic show, and a stand-up comedy act by crowd favorite Kenny Blaq that left attendees in stitches. However, the intellectual highlight came during a panel discussion titled “Navigating the Crypto Ecosystem: Challenges and Opportunities,” moderated by Oyindamola Abatan.
Industry leaders including Obinna Iwuno, President of the Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), SEC’s Fintech and Innovation Office Senior Manager Obinna Egbuniwe, and Jeroid’s Chief Operating Officer Hassan Eniola shared insights on regulation, market trends, and positioning Nigeria as a global crypto leader.
