West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) Chairman, Luqman Mamudu, has promised that the ongoing fair would create an enabling environment for Nigeria’s auto industry.

Mamudu, who is also a former Director of Planning and Strategy at the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), observed that the show, which began yesterday and would end tomorrow, would provide a veritable platform for visitors and participants to robustly interact on issues revolving around “Nigeria’s automotive sector and indeed, that of West Africa.”

He said: “This will include the need to create a conducive investment environment in Nigeria, the potential for a credit purchase funds scheme to drive demand for vehicles and parts, and opportunities and challenges in Nigeria and the regional markets for trade and investment.”

Managing Director of BtoB Events, organisers of the exhibition, Jamie Hill, noted: “We are extremely pleased that Automotive Components and Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) is hosting its first country pavilion at WAAS, and we are excited by the interest generated by Chinese auto part companies being able to return to Nigeria post-pandemic.

“And with the expansion of the exhibition space and the new conference, visitors will find the show providing them with much more information about latest developments and even more new business opportunities for the vehicle after-sales sector.”

The event is bringing together senior representatives of large automotive companies from Nigeria and West Africa. They include assembly plants, distributors, importers, local and regional brands.

With the theme, ‘Transition to sustainable, quality automotive parts supply in West Africa’, the conference promises to brainstorm on issues factors affecting the industry.

Billed for Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, the exhibition, which will feature over 40 countries and participants, would witness several sessions, where topical issues are to be fully thrashed.
