The French embassy’s physical health experts have emphasized the importance of regular exercise and a balanced diet as essential components for enhancing cardiovascular health and promoting overall well-being.

They noted that engaging in frequent physical activity not only strengthens the heart but also improves blood circulation and reduces the risk of heart disease.

This call was made yesterday at the November edition of “Fitness Core Paris for All” 2024, held at the French Institute, Wuse, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, one of the facilitators and Chief Executive Officer of ProjectMufasah, Nathaniel Shofarasin, disclosed that the younger generation is plagued with cardiovascular diseases that could have been avoided with a decent lifestyle, exercise, and a good diet.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent fitness routine, such as going to the gym, swimming, or dancing, as these activities can significantly contribute to heart health and overall vitality.

Mufasah encouraged individuals to reduce their intake of excessive sugars and junk food, stressing the benefits of getting enough sleep and making healthy dietary choices tailored to their goals, whether for weight loss or weight gain.

He pointed out the critical need to prioritize internal health alongside external appearance, as both are essential for achieving comprehensive well-being.

“The engine runs from the inside, so if the engine is messed up, what happens to the body? The way we perceive ourselves often starts from within. If there are issues with our internal well-being, it can affect how we present ourselves outwardly. Many people seek to enhance their appearance, whether that’s aiming to look bigger or smaller, depending on their personal goals. However, it’s essential to consider how we feel on the inside as well,” he said.

The physical health trainer for the event, Edwin August, reiterated the significance of exercise in stabilizing blood pressure and preventing cardiac arrest.

He noted that exercise should be a part of daily routine because of its immense benefit in improving mental health in the wake of the current economic complexities.

“It all boils down to even our personal goals in life, not just fitness. If you are not resolute in your decision to be physically healthy, it robs your mental health, physical health, and cardiovascular health,” he said.

Also, one of the participants, Pharmacist Mohammad Rabiu, lauded the initiative and its impact in fostering a healthier society.

He further disclosed that people are lackadaisical with their physical health, and making regular exercise a lifestyle is highly beneficial.

In his words: “I hope people realize that physical health should be given priority. I thought I was fit until today I realized I was out of shape. As a pharmacist, I advocate for intentionality in physical health exercise.”
