
The medical experts, who are concerned by huge sums of money Nigerians spend abroad on medicare, lamented the practice was affecting the nation’s economy critically.
According to Dr. Moses Ohiosimun, Medical Director, Zitadel Medical and Diagnostic Limited in Port Harcourt, Nigeria can come out from the current economic recession faster, if it is able to save money from medical tourism.

The Medical Director pointed out that, despite the financial cost of obtaining medications abroad, there is also the human cost, where several individuals die on the way before they get to the foreign countries.
He added that a lot of cases treated abroad can be handled at home.Also speaking, a Consultant Neurosurgeon, Dr. Biodun Ogungbo noted that the nation’s health sector can be resuscitated through private entrepreneurs, stating that government is broke at the moment as the people cannot depend on it to deliver the required quality health care.
