Ahead of the 25 years anniversary of Delta State, no fewer than 21 experts, including professional economic managers, are expected to feature in the economic investment forum slated to hold in Asaba, the state capital, this month.

Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Festus Ovie Agas, who spoke with a group of journalists after a courtesy visit on him by Delta at 25 Desk team, led by Mr. Gabriel Muemuifo, in his office yesterday, said that the “Delta at 25 Anniversary” would feature an economic and investment forum that would showcase the state, its cultural heritage and other areas to attract investors to the state.

His words: “It is on longer news that we all know the difficult situation facing us as a nation. It also affects us at the state level. We believe it is the right time for us to look at the challenges now that oil has failed and the need for diversification.”

He further reiterated the commitment of the state government in fulfilling the campaign promises made by the governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to Deltans in delivering prosperity to all Deltans.

He, therefore, called on Delta indigenes to key into the programmes of the state government, stressing that its essence was to create a mutual understanding between the government and the beneficiaries, reducing poverty and creating job opportunities, especially for the teeming youths.

In another development, the SSG said the government would continue to support the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state to enable it achieve its set objectives.

Agas, who gave this assurance yesterday when the new state co-ordinator of the scheme, Mr. Omotade Ayodele Benjamin paid him a courtesy visit, described the NYSC scheme as one of the major legacies of the former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s administration, and expressed the need to enable it thrive.
