Experts urge Nigerians to prioritise dental care for overall well-being

Dental health experts have called on Nigerians to prioritise their oral health as a crucial part of their overall well-being.

Chief Executive Officer and Clinical Director of Smile360, Dr Amy Shumbusho, who spoke during the CSR initiative organised by Smile360, emphasised the life-changing impact of dental care.

“We are here to change the smiles and lives of young adults who can’t afford dental treatments. Addressing oral health is not just cosmetic; it affects daily life and overall mental and physical health,” she noted.

She stressed that ignoring dental issues could lead to serious health challenges, urging Nigerians to seek regular checkups and not wait until problems escalate.

A Dental Specialist, Dr Amaka Umolu, explained that if people prioritise their oral health, it would boost their confidence.

“We encourage more private organisations to join us in this initiative.”

Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Sofia Enoch, said: “Being here today means my life is going to change for the better. I’m going to be able to do a lot and achieve things I have not been able to achieve for a while now. I’m going to explore, and my smile is going to be greater and I have a good career, so it means a lot to me.”
