Imo State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Mohammed, has urged monarchs and other community leaders in the state to fish out all the criminals in their domains.

Imo State Commissioner of Police, Nasiru Mohammed, has urged monarchs and other community leaders in the state to fish out all the criminals in their domains.

Mohammed, represented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Nwangele Council, Innocent Ofielu, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), made the call yesterday during the return of Umuarisi-Umuoma, Abajah, police station, renovated by illustrious sons of the area, Dr. Solomon Ucheka and Nnamdi Nwaka.

The station was taken away from the community five years ago for security reasons. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, approved the restoration of the station in the area constituting eight villages and 42 kindreds.
MEANWHILE, hoodlums, last weekend, invaded a police station in Obowo, in the state, killing two policemen and injuring three others.

During the EndSARS protests in the state, many protesters had razed some police stations.

The DPO commended Ucheka, who spent N3 million on the renovation, expressing worry over the vandalism of transformers in the community.

He disclosed that 10 police officers would be deployed to the station, starting with six.

Responding, Ucheka, an international businessman, said he felt everyone in the area was insecure without police presence for five years, noting that his gesture was a way of contributing to the security of the area.

President-General of the town union, Ugo Diala-Iheanacho, an engineer, expressed joy that the sons of the soil were touched to reconstruct the station to a modern standard.
