Her gloomy and melancholic look, as she sat in a cushion chair at the corner of her room, last week is enough to know that all is not well with her. Her sporadic breathing could easily reveal that she is not in good health.
According to medical report, for her to recover fully, she needs a kidney transplant and the sum of N5.5million for her to live a normal life again.
The case of the single mother, which is being handled by Ikorodu Metropolitan Lion’s Club, started a year ago, when she fell sick and was taken to the hospital. After treating her for malaria without cure, she was advised to go for medical test through which the disease was discovered.
For some time, Alabi could not do anything about her predicament because of money but suddenly, she discovered spots covering her from head to toe, which forced her to go to a General Hospital in Lagos State.
At the hospital, she ran another test and according to a report signed by Consultant Nephrology/Physician, Dr. Alagbe D.C, dated November 6, 2015, “she was diagnosed with End State Renal Disease some months ago (with bilateral shrunken kidneys), which she is undergoing maintenance dialysis two to three times weekly, until a renal transplant is been placed for.
“She is also on some medications and Aneamic treatment (Erythropoetin and iron sucrose weekly). However, for her to recover fully she will need a kidney transplant, but for the moment she has to be on the weekly dialysis.”
The Guardian learnt that her case was later referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where was admitted for a week with a fresh test, where it was discovered that the affected kidney is already spoilt and the dialysis was asked to stopped.
They recommended that she should get a donour, who should be a member of her family and the sum of N5.5m to carryout, the surgery.
Alabi, who claimed not to have had any symptom of the disease while growing up, called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist her to raise the fund to live a normal life.
The Project Director of Ikorodu Metropolitan Lion’s Club, Lion Tunji Oredipe appealed to Nigerians to assist the woman with their widows-mite for her live her normal life again.
