Faith-based organisations must support govt in tackling poverty — Pastor Adeyemi
…Tope Alabi, Mercy Chinwo, Others to Minister in Ibadan
The Global Lead Pastor of Global Harvest Church, Pastor Victor Adeyemi, Tuesday, called on faith-based organisations in the country to support the government in tackling hunger in the country.
Adeyemi argued that the government alone could not do everything, stating that all organisations that represent God must support the needy.
The cleric made the call while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on the occasion of the seventh edition of life-changing evangelism and ministry, ‘Celebrate Jesus,’ slated to commence on January 17, 2025, at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
During the crusade, which begins at 7:00 p.m. and runs until dawn, free buses will be provided across many parts of Ibadan.
There will be medical outreaches during the crusade. The outreaches will begin on Thursday at 9:00 p.m., and at least 1,000 persons will benefit from the medical outreach.
Many gospel singers and artistes are expected to minister during the programme. Among them are Tope Alabi, Mercy Chinwo, Dare Justified, Buche, Ayabamz, Michael Fakoya, and others.
According to Adeyemi, food, shelter, and clothes are the basic needs of every human.
He said, “All organisations that represent God must make sure they take care of the poor, the needy, and the downtrodden. Faith-based organisations should provide food to help address hunger. Jesus provided that in His earthly sojourn. The government cannot do it alone. Faith-based organisations must do it.”
On safety, he said, “We make sure we make adequate preparations. We don’t organise what we can’t control as a matter of policy.”
The cleric said the church gives food and clothes, pays school fees, and covers house rents for some people, adding that the ministry organises vocational training to empower people.
