Farmatrix strengthens partnerships to connect smallholder farmers with markets

Farmatrix Agro Allied and Technology Company is deepening its efforts to connect smallholder farmers with sustainable markets through a partnership-driven digital ecosystem. Founded in 2019 by Nyifamu Ogechi Manzo, the company has grown into a network linking over 8,000 farmers across Nigeria with training, finance, and logistics support.

At the centre of its model is collaboration with organisations including Premier Tropicana Nigeria Limited, Heifer International, Technoserve, and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). These partnerships have provided farmers with access to technical expertise, financing opportunities, and reliable market outlets, helping them improve yields and reduce post-harvest losses.

“Our platform was designed to break the cycle of isolation for smallholder farmers,” Manzo said. “By connecting them to buyers, logistics providers, and climate-smart knowledge, we make agriculture a viable livelihood, especially for women and young people.”

Farmatrix uses digital tools to deliver practical support. Farmers on the platform receive tailored guidance on climate-resilient practices and are linked with high-value buyers seeking consistent supply. The company’s technology also integrates logistics services, reducing the cost and complexity of moving produce from farms to markets.

The firm’s work has drawn attention beyond Nigeria. Manzo has shared the Farmatrix approach at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, GITEX Africa, and the Africa Food Systems Forum. She also serves on the Global Future Council on Soil Security, using the platform to highlight the role of technology in strengthening food systems and land management.

Farmatrix’s progress has been recognised by several leadership and fellowship programs, including the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Commonwealth Startup Fellowship, and West Africa Acumen Fellowship. Each program, Manzo noted, has contributed to refining the company’s vision of scaling its model to one million farmers by 2028.

Looking ahead, Farmatrix plans to extend its reach across Africa by creating a seamless farm-to-market ecosystem that combines finance, logistics, and market access in one digital space. “What we are building is not just a company,” Manzo explained. “It is a framework that allows farmers to participate meaningfully in food systems transformation.”
