Fashola advocates traffic education in schools

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday, canvassed the introduction of traffic education in the school curriculum to help produce a new generation of drivers that would know and obey traffic rules.

Fashola, who stated this at the Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM 10 anniversary colloquium themed: “Integrated Transport System as a lifeline for economic growth,” said it would help to catch them young, especially school children.

The minister, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media, Hakeem Bello, commended the radio for operating with great impact and giant strides in the past 10 years of its existence.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the intermodal and integrated system of transportation approach had not only reduced dependence on roads but also provided long-time solutions to challenges.

The governor, who received the award of excellence at the event with other notable personalities, pledged the support of his administration to the growth of the radio station.

In his vote of thanks, the General Manager of the radio, Tayo Akanle, applauded the state government, members of staff, as well as well-wishers for their support as the station, celebrates its anniversary.
