EKITI State governor, Ayodele Fayose has said a new Ogoga of Ikere would be named and installed within the next 14 days. The governor made the pronouncement after a meeting with the king-makers and other leaders from the community on Saturday at the Government House, Ado Ekiti.

Fourteen king makers were said to be present at the meeting and they explained to the governor how they had voted to select a new Ogoga, stressing that 10 out 14 king-makers expressed support for Prince Jimi Adu.

The governor, thereafter, stated that after further consultations, procedures and considerations of information at his disposal, a new Ogoga would be named and installed within the next 14 days. He advised those who might not be satisfied with the decision that would be made to approach the court rather than embark on crises.

The governor noted that the security agency would not allow anyone to throw the community and by extension the state into chaos, saying the peace of the state was paramount to him. Fayose reteirated that he had no preferred candidate and would rather follow the decision of the kingmakers, which by tradition, “is vested with power to select the new Ogoga.” The governor said no one should allow his personal interest to override the will of the majority.
