Oke Ogun indigenes laud Shittu’s nomination

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has urged members of the National Assembly from the state to support the nomination of former Governor Kayode Fayemi when the Senate is screening ministerial nominees.

Fayose in a statement signed yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor gave the advice while meeting with student leaders from the state under the aegis of Federation of Ekiti Student Union (FEESU) in his office.

Also, Oke Ogun people have lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the choice of Mr Adebayo Shittu as a ministerial nominee for Oyo state.

In a statement by Mr. Doja Oladele and Mr. Jare Ajayi, Acting President and General Secretary respectively of Oke ogun Development Council, (ODC), the umbrella organisation for the people of Oke Ogun, the group said, “It is a known fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is a stickler for excellence. To enable him realize his noble objectives for a Nigeria of our dream, he needs people of equal mien as his lieutenants. Adebayo Shittu is a man of sterling qualities – integrity, finesse, incorruptibility, dedication to causes he believes in, hardwork, honesty, piety and of course, unquestionable patriotism – qualities he shares with Mr. President.

This is why we believe that Shittu will be an asset to the present administration. He will be an asset to the Nigeria nation and certainly add immense value.”

Fayose who noted that Ekiti project belongs to all and that everything must be done to support it, urged the lawmakers representing the state to play their parts towards ensuring that the former governor gets a hitch-free screening exercise on the floor of the Senate come next Tuesday when the screening of the ministerial nominees would come up.

According to him,”Ekiti is my priority. Some people petitioned the National Assembly stating how Fayemi sunk Ekiti into heavy debts, I have told the members not to do that. It is God that judges people, not us. You must support him there. They should not go to the Senate and oppose Kayode Fayemi. An Ekiti man is an Ekiti man. I appeal to everybody, you must support him.”

He charged the students to shun acts that could mar their future, saying he would never ask them to engage in party politics or thuggery.

He urged them to be mindful of the current financial situation of the state while making their demands, promising to always treat young people with utmost respect and love.

While expressing their support for the nomination of Shittu, the ODC said “since it takes the deep to call on the deep, it is not surprising that President Buhari nominated Bayo Shittu to come and contribute to the service of the nation at the national level.”

On the alleged reservation of some elements against Bayo Shittu’s nomination, the ODC said that there is no basis whatsoever for opposing his planned appointment.
