FG affirms commitment to gas evolution

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, has said Nigeria remains committed to gas evolution in Africa and beyond. He said Nigeria the country is open to massive investment in the gas sector, with policies and incentives to guarantee good returns on investment. He said this at an engagement with the delegation he will be leading to the World Gas Conference 2025 in Beijing, China.  
 
The minister will lead the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), delegates, and energy industry leaders to the event next month. He will also join global energy thought leaders as a distinguished speaker at the global event.
 
Accompanying the minister are Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed; Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Limited, Bayo Ojulari; Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Felix Ogbe; Coordinating Director, Decade of Gas (DoG), Ed Ubong; NGA President, Akachukwu Nwokedi, among others.

Their presence is to reinforce the nation’s participation in international energy conservation, and position gas as the pillar of its economic future as a critical player in the global energy transition.

Leading gas industry players, including NLNG, Shell Nigeria, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited, Axxela Limited, ND Western, Aradel PLC, Aiteo, Tetracore, Xenergi, Peiyang Chemical Engineering Service Corporation (PCCS), ENTEC Power, Neconde Energy Limited, Shoreline and Oando, with support from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and NNPC Limited and other leading companies in the country’s gas value chain, are backing the NGA-led participation.
 
These industry players would converge on Nigerian Pavilion, a dedicated platform through which the NGA and the Decade of Gas Secretariat will showcase the country’s vast gas resources and promote investment opportunities and policy advancements.

Holding from May 19 to 23, 2025, the event would host over 30,000 participants, 600 companies, and 400 speakers to discuss the future of the gas industry.

With the theme, ‘Energising a Sustainable Future’, the forum aligns with NGA’s mission to promote natural gas as the fuel of choice for Nigeria’s economic transformation and global energy transition.
