In a renewed push to harness the full potential of Nigeria’s beauty industry, the Federal Government and the Beauty Therapy Institute (BTI) have raised concerns over harmful practices such as skin bleaching, while calling for greater collaboration and investment in the estimated $15 billion sector.
Africa’s beauty and personal care market is projected to reach $15 billion by 2027, with Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya dominating the industry.
At a symposium organised by Uno Health Group in Abuja, 23 individuals were trained and certified by BTI as part of efforts to improve standards and professionalism in the sector. The event brought together policymakers, entrepreneurs, health professionals, and stakeholders to discuss the future of beauty in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Delivering a message on behalf of the Minister for Women Affairs, the Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships, Ms Chinny Okoye, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting the industry.
“The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs remains committed to supporting innovation, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.
