FG invests in middle class to drive development

As a way of bridging the gap between the rich and the poor which has adversely affected the development of the country, the Federal Government yesterday said it was focusing on the development of the much needed middle class in the country which it said was needed to develop Nigeria.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu stated this in Benin City at a symposium to mark the 25th anniversary of the National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB). Adamu who was represented by his Minister of State, Anthony Anwukah said NABTEB has the responsibility of building that needed middle class.

He said the federal government was also providing incentives to encourage more persons to take to teaching adding that probably from next year, there would be special conditions for those taking to teaching.

In the same vein, the Minister of State who was guest of honor and represented by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ebonyi State, Professor Godswill Obioma said the federal government would build Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) in all the states of the federation where they currently do not exist and then expand and renovate all existing ones.
