FG promotes 30 senior cadre correctional officers

The Federal Government has announced the promotion of thirty Controllers of Corrections (CCs) to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG) as part of merit-based advancement to streamline reforms in the sector.

The promotions were approved by the Board of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

A statement from the Nigerian Correctional Services, (NCoS), indicates that the move aims to strengthen leadership within the Service and promote merit-based advancement.

Among those promoted, 27 are general duty officers recognised for their exceptional dedication and leadership across various formations nationwide. Additionally, three professional officers were elevated for their contributions in the fields of Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health.

“This promotion reflects our ongoing reform agenda in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda,” the Controller General of Corrections (CGC), Sylvester Nwakuche, said.

He further commended the newly promoted officers, urging them to enhance their commitment to service delivery and leadership.

He said, “The promotion is not just a reward for past performance; it is a call to higher responsibility,” emphasising the importance of aligning with global best practices in correctional management.

The CG also assured of the agency’s dedication to fostering a professional workforce capable of addressing modern challenges in corrections and public safety.
