One of Nigeria’s hygiene brands, Dettol, has renewed its advocacy for a cleaner and healthier nation through consistent public health education and community engagement.
In partnership with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, and Kiddies ‘n’ Brands, Dettol organised an awareness event in Abuja to strengthen hygiene habits among Nigerians and promote healthier lifestyles.
The Head of External Communications and Partnerships, Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, said Dettol has remained a strong advocate for hygiene and wellness across Nigeria for decades.
“At Reckitt, through our flagship brand Dettol, we have remained deeply committed to promoting hand hygiene for decades. Handwashing is not just a routine practice; it is a basic human right and one of the most effective ways to prevent illness and improve public health outcomes,” she said.
Uzo-Ogbugh added that the company continues to collaborate with federal and state authorities to promote hygiene education that empowers families and communities to live healthier lives.
The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, commended Dettol and other health advocates for their sustained contributions toward improving sanitation and promoting disease prevention across the country.
In Lagos and Kwara States, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa and Kiddies ‘n’ Brands extended the initiative to schools and communities, engaging children and families in practical handwashing and hygiene sessions.
Dettol’s ongoing public health campaigns, including Clean Naija and the Reckitt Catalyst Initiatives, have reached millions of Nigerians, driving behavioural change and supporting innovative solutions in the water and sanitation sectors.
Reaffirming its commitment, the company noted that clean hands and healthy habits remain fundamental to building a safer and stronger Nigeria.
