Following the recent fire outbreak caused by the relocation of foreign airlines from the old to the new terminal building at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has set up a task force committee to ensure a seamless exercise.

A former Director in the Department of Air Transport Management, Hassan Musa, an engineer is the team leader. Other members of the task team include Adebayo Oladipo (General Manager Aerodrome  NCAA), Mr. Collins Mukoro,, Mrs. Uyoyou Edhekpo and Mr. Henry Agbebire.

It would be recalled that the minister had set the deadline for the relocation at October 1, 2023. However, the management of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had to fast track the implementation of this directive in response to the recent fire outbreak, which raised safety concerns and affected passengers’ movements.

The primary objective of the task force is to  work diligently towards resolving all concerns raised by passengers regarding congestion, discomfort, and related issues stemming from terminal relocatiion.

The committee is also expected to minimise discomfort during this transition period such as enhancing  signage, dedicated support staff, improved communication channels to ensure a hitch free relocation.

The minister pledged  transparency throughout this process by providing regular updates on progress made in addressing concerns arising from the exercise, just as s as FAAN pledged to  improve public relations strategies through various channels including online platforms and customer service helplines so that passengers stay informed about developments.

The Ministry however  urge all passengers and other stakeholders to be patient and bear with them as the inconvenience caused will soon be resolve adding that the  Minister extends his deepest regrets once again over the inconvenience caused and assures all travelers that they are  fully committed to resolving these concerns promptly.
