The Federal Government says it will continue to collaborate with states and other relevant stakeholders in the sector to mitigate all environmental challenges in the country.

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, made this assertion while receiving a Fellow and Leadership Excellence Award from the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML) USA in Abuja.

Lawal, who expressed his joy, believed that the awards would further motivate the Ministry to redouble its efforts in implementing all environmental policies across the country.

The minister, therefore, commended the institute for its plans to build the capacity of citizens in leadership positions to tackle ecological issues in Nigeria.

He noted that the achievements of the present administration in the environmental sector are key to ensuring a healthier and cleaner environment, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

According to the minister, both awards are dedicated to the ministry and its staff for their unwavering and collective roles in achieving outstanding performance in the sector.

Earlier, Dr. Sam Ojo, Country Director of the CIML, explained that the awards were conferred on the Minister as a result of his leadership and commitment to the management of environmental issues.

Ojo also noted that a healthy environment enhances economic stability, effective security, and a sound health sector.

He stated that the institute plans to train about 30,000 leaders in various sectors of the economy to support efforts in resolving challenges nationwide.

The First Lady of Osun State, Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, a fellow of the institute, decorated the minister and presented the awards, while Prof. Mark Okaji handed over the certificate of recognition to the awardees.
