FG trains 3,000 South West youths in mobile apps, others, says Farouq

The Federal Government, yesterday, said it had trained 3,000 youths in South-West under its N-Knowledge programme in skills acquisition for self-sustenance.

The Federal Government, yesterday, said it had trained 3,000 youths in South-West under its N-Knowledge programme in skills acquisition for self-sustenance.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq, disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the training programme in Ila-Orangun, Osun State.

Farouq, who said the N-Knowledge programme was to empower unemployed youths to be self-dependent, said the youths were trained in scriptwriting, software system, hardware and animation.

The minister, represented by Acting Director in the ministry, Mr. Victor Popoola, said that the trainees would be given start-up kits, such as laptops, workstations, computer accessories, among others.

She said the youths would be attached to their trainers after the training for six months for monitoring and would receive an N10,000 stipend monthly.

Farouq also said the youths were given N27,000 training allowance and N30,000 transport allowance.
