FG unveils 250 Renewed hope civil service estate in Abuja

The Federal Government has unveiled a 250 housing units of two and three bedroom bungalows estate, located at Dukpa Gwagwalada for the Federal Civil Servants in Abuja, and scheduled for completion in six months.

 

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, described the project as a demonstration of Mr.President’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, particularly civil servants to address the country’s housing deficit and improve the living conditions of public servants.

 

Darma also said that providing decent affordable accommodation for civil servants would enhance their productivity and restore dignity to public service, adding, it’s a testament to the commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, especially civil servants who form the backbone of government.

 

Also, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack,described the project as a targeted intervention aimed at addressing the housing needs of a critical segment of the nation’s workforce.

 

Contributing , the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Shuaib Belgore, said the estate would comprise two- and three-bedroom bungalows designed specifically for federal civil servants.

 

Belgore explained that the project was significant not only as a housing initiative but also because of its potential impact on the welfare and productivity of federal workers, and charged contractors handling the project to ensure that the government’s commitment was translated into a completed estate within the stipulated time.

 

“It is a targeted intervention that responds to the housing needs of an important segment of our national workforce. Its flag off today is a practical step towards providing an opportunity for beneficiaries to access decent accommodation,” he said.

 

He noted that the Federal Civil Service played a central role in the functioning of government, as civil servants provide the institutional framework through which public policies are developed, implemented and sustained.

 

The Permanent Secretary declared: As a Ministry, we look forward to seeing this project progress steadily from groundbreaking to completion, recognising the importance of maintaining effective engagement with all relevant institutions and stakeholders throughout the implementation process.

 

According to him,the Estate is comprising 250 units of two- and three-bedroom bungalows designed for Federal Civil Servants, and it’s a targeted intervention that responds to the housing needs of an important segment of our national workforce.
