Fidelity Bank Plc on Monday boosted the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) with a cash donation of N50 million.

The Executive Secretary of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Abudulrazak Balogun, who received the money amidst excitement, said Lagos remains the safest state in Nigeria.

Balogun who spoke while receiving top executives of the bank at his office in Alausa, Ikeja, said the bank has donated a total of N175 million to the trust fund since it was founded 10 years ago.

“We use the money donated judiciously. We are transparent and accountable and that is why Lagos has remained the safest place to live in and do business. I Fidelity Bank for the gesture.

We did not knock on its door for support. The management on its own decided to come and assist the state.

“We cater for about 4,000 policemen in Lagos, and we need money to take care of more projects. Prices of things are skyrocketing everyday.

The vehicles we bought like N5 million last year may cost more than N10 million this year.

When you hear that N50 million has been donated to the trust fund, you may not understand that the money may not buy more that five security vehicles.”

The Executive Director, Lagos and South-West, Fidelity Bank, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, who presented the cheque to Balogun, said the management understood that if the environment was threatened by insecurity, business operations and customers will be affected badly, stressing that the state government has shown serious commitment to the security of life and property.
