Fintiri flags off N3.2 billion road projects in Madagali
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has flagged off the construction of two roads at the cost of N3.2 billion in Michika and Gulak towns of Madagali Council. The contracts were awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited.
The governor, who hails from Madagali, had earlier re-commissioned the re-connection to the national grid of Bazza, Watu, Shuwa, Michika and Madagali towns that were affected by insurgency in 2014.
He said the re-connection after six years of darkness was a clear manifestation that despite the lean resources of his government, he would do everything possible to improve lives.
Fintiri pointed out that rural communities remained the priority of his administration, promising that his government would continue to develop and improve the livelihood of the people to enable them contribute to national development.
He said the provision of electricity, among other amenities, would be pursued with the available resources to ensure rapid development of the rural areas.
The governor noted that his administration’s desire to focus on the rural dwellers emanated from the realisation that integrated national development could only be achieved by developing the rural communities.
“All these efforts affirm our commitment to the vigorous pursuit of our 11-Point Agenda targeted at re-defining the relationship between government and the people, with the ultimate goal of bridging the development gap,” he said.
The governor added that despite the challenges that nearly halted his administration’s progress in meeting its timelines, none of the items on the agenda would be left unachieved before the expiration of his mandate in 2023.
Warning saboteurs to steer clear of government’s property in the state, he said that the full wrath of the law would be deployed against anyone that tampered with government’s property. He, however, urged residents to unite and protect public properties in their areas.
In his welcome speech, the Commissioner for Works, Adamu Abubakar, noted that the 5.1km Michika township road was awarded at N1.507 billion, while the 6.6km Gulak township road was awarded at N1.684 billion.
