Fintiri urges IGP to establish police institutions in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to set up police institutions in Adamawa State, similar to those in other northeastern states, to strengthen security and law enforcement.

The governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the IGP to the Government House in Yola, where he underscored the urgent need for a Police Mobile Base and a Counter-Terrorism Unit in Madagali Local Government Area.

According to Fintiri, these security units would play a crucial role in combating the lingering Boko Haram insurgency and protecting communities in the state.

Fintiri also expressed appreciation for the IGP’s second visit to Adamawa, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering support for the police.

He assured that the state government would continue to provide logistical and financial assistance to ensure lasting peace and stability, not just in Adamawa but across Nigeria.

Responding to the governor’s request, IGP Kayode Egbetokun commended the people and government of Adamawa for their steadfast support of the police force.

He acknowledged the state as home to many police personnel and credited existing security collaborations, particularly with the military, for notable successes in tackling crime and insurgency.

The police chief further emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships to enhance security.

He assured that his leadership would focus on capacity building, equipping officers with essential skills, and deepening community engagement to improve safety nationwide.
