TEXACO Nigeria Outershelf Limited has donated a hybrid library with a building, equipped with Internet facilities and other basic amenities to Ilaje High School, Igbokoda, in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was the initiative of a Chevron Company, Operators of Oil Milling List (OML) 132 and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), who awarded the contract on August 14, 2014 and completed it within the agreed three months period, with zero percent mobilisation fees for the contractor.

According to Director, Deepwater and Production Sharing Contract, Mr. Ewing Jeffry, represented by Manager, Communications, Policy, Government and Public Affairs Department, Sola Adebawo, during the commissioning, the project was in line with the principles of Deep Offshore Community Affairs Group (DOCAG).

He said DOCAG views the entire country as the company’s community and all its community engagement programs are channeled towards the development and advancement of those various communities.

“We believe that education is the key to national and societal development as it unlocks the potentials of the people, especially the youths and galvanizes them for positive development. That is why we are committed to educational development as one of the thematic areas in social performance programmes,” he said.

Adebawo, an alumnus and member of the second set of the school, Set 85 said, “we are proud to have operated in Nigeria for over five decades, contributing to the growth and prosperity of the country and operated in line with our vision to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance.”
