Firm flags off developmental projects in Rivers communities

As part of moves aimed at enhancing the well-being and standard of living of the people of Rivers State, four communities, Ugama Ekede, Ayama Ekede, Asukama and Asukoyetare in Adoni Local Council, are at the brink of enjoying infrastructural and human capital projects for the development of the areas.

The projects, flagged off at the weekend, courtesy of Green Energy International Limited (GEIL) and Lekoil Oil & Gas Investment Limited, are the brainchild of the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) inaugurated last year.

The projects include the construction of the Asukoyet link road (Phase 1), the construction of the Asukama box culvert, the completion of the Asukama Town Hall, the construction of the Ugama Ekede link road (Phase 1), the administration of scholarship and empowerment in Asukama, administration of scholarship in Ugama Ekede.

In addition, the company is also renovating the community secondary school and other buildings in Ikuru Town Community, borehole repairs and water reticulation in Asukama, completion of six classroom blocks in Asukoyet, scholarship, bursary and empowerment in Asukoyet, concrete, embankment round Ayama Ekede Town Hall, scholarship and bursary in Ayama Ekede, among others.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, representative of Green Energy LEKOIL JV, Godwin Omayi, noted that the HCDT has been implemented to enhance the well-being of the people in the community, enjoining members of the community to ensure peace and cooperation with the contractors handling the projects, as the only prerequisite for greater development in the community.
