Members of staff of MediaFuse-Dentsu, recently, cleaned strategic locations in the Ikeja GRA, Lagos State, as part of activities to mark the company’s 2023 volunteering day tagged “One Day For Change”.

The event is a global volunteering incident held in alignment with Earth Day. This year, Dentsu focused its volunteering efforts on nature and circular economy.

This is as the firm’s employees gave back to the community by picking up used plastic bottles and other wastes, according to a press statement by its Group Corporate Communications Manager, Sodiq Oyeleke. The employees also distributed pre-owned clothes and other items to them.

Its Group Chief Executive Officer, Emeka Okeke, described dentsu as a superpower in motivating positive actions.

He said: “For the first time, we celebrated this year’s One Day For Change with other dentsu markets globally. The day was aimed at building a clean and better environment for our local community. We also distributed pre-owned items to people, who needed them.

“This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and the lives of those within our community. By donating pre-owned items, we helped to reduce waste and gave others the chance to benefit from something that might otherwise have been thrown away.

“We also successfully influenced attitudes and shaped behaviour during the event, as passers-by were motivated to join in the cleaning. This is one of the ways we are promoting inclusiveness. We firmly believe that together, we can help one another and make our community a greater place.”

Okeke also noted that the occasion allowed the integrated communications firm to deepen its relationship with its host community, Ikeja Residents’ Association, Lagos State.

“Beyond the economic impact of the event, it was a unique opportunity to collectively come together to volunteer with our local communities, galvanise our people around a common goal, and make a difference where it matters most,” he added.
