Arien Industries has announced plans to address major inefficiencies in Nigeria’s agricultural supply chain by investing in agro-logistics infrastructure, digital platforms, and value chain integration.
Founded in 2016 by HRH Okori Ariwepere Christopher and Endoro Julius Calabare, the company says it is committed to solving long-standing challenges that hinder the growth of agribusinesses and smallholder farmers in the country.
Nigeria’s agriculture sector, a major part of the national economy, continues to face issues such as fragmented infrastructure, high transport costs, limited access to finance, pest invasions, and low levels of mechanization. These challenges contribute to an unreliable and costly farm-to-market system, restricting farmers’ market access and profitability.
Arien Industries has positioned itself to close these gaps. “We founded Arien to address the barriers farmers and distributors face daily, and to make agriculture in Nigeria both sustainable and profitable,” said HRH Okori Ariwepere Christopher, Chief Executive Officer.
In the second half of 2023, the company recorded over \$108,000 in revenue from the trade and logistics of agricultural commodities including palm oil, onions, rice, and egusi. Arien’s approach focuses on cutting operational inefficiencies and improving logistics to lower costs and improve market access.
The company is now expanding into production and manufacturing, starting with palm oil and palm kernel oil processing. Future plans include crop farming, livestock logistics, poultry, fisheries, beverage production, and bakery goods.
A key part of Arien’s model is the use of digital logistics platforms and traceability systems to boost transparency, reduce waste, and improve trust across the agricultural value chain.
“Our vision is to be more than a logistics company — we want to drive food security and inclusive prosperity across Africa,” said Endoro Julius Calabare, Co-Founder and Director of Logistics and Trade.
With regional trade frameworks like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and ECOWAS schemes offering new opportunities, Arien Industries believes it is well-positioned to support Nigeria’s transition to a more efficient, sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
